anyone see that helicopter that flew over pinnaroo the other day
narly
im sure the dude with the green north kite did
it flew rather close over the top of his kite

what was that all about!!
are they allowed to fly that close
surely they know thats a popular kite beach
are they trying to thin the kite population out

or was it and optical illusion
and the chopper flew over at a safe height

what if a kiter jumps really high right at that moment and splat

Hey Cookastorm,

I'm pretty sure all aircraft have a 500ft minimum height for the stretch along the coast. Sometimes it looks really low and like you could boost into the awaiting blades, but reality is, your lines are less than 100ft and even if you could boost 100ft up you'd still be well short.

Just wait until the Airforce are doing training and you get a group of jets fly by at just under mach 1. Scares the bejesus out of you!

Maybe there is a US Navy ship in Freo atm?

A military helicopter flew over Brighton twice on Wednesday arvo. It was very low. Looked to be double the height of the kites so it probably was actually 3 line lengths. Didnt see anyone attempt to boost underneath it!

Yeh I saw that chopper. It definitely wasn't an optical illusion that guy was way too close to the kites. Some of them even responded to the helicopters blades messing with the air. We all agreed the guy must have been trying to scare the kiters.

Would love to see kiteboarder vs airforce lawsuit.

A military chopper flew past Pinnaroo/Mullaloo fairly low again today, it didn't look any more than about 100mtrs up, I was on my Stand Up though so was no worries but on the lighthouse to leighton you could definitely feel the air disturbances in the canopy from the low flying choppers.

Our navy and some NZ ships have been doing some training off the coast and going by the house shaking and rattling I presume some ship to shore bombing of some sort at the range just up from Lano over the last few days. There are a lots more helicopters buzzing around for that?
