Hoping for some wind from tomorrow...
Dropped my son to the airport to go to Fiji last week end. he had 2 kites a ten and a Zephur, a twin tip, a surf board and harness in a bag and a small suit case for a week and a carry on bag and it didnt cost him (or me) a cent for excess. That was on Pacific Blue
If an item is sports equipment e.g surfboard or golf clubs etc, it only counts as 5kg on your 20kg allowance - even though the item can weigh 20kg itself. Detail on their website.
Can people confirm that wind on bali is stronger on West Coast and that at this time of the year the best place to kite waves is North of Seminyak to Canggu and Balian. Can you expect 15-20 knots or more like 14-18 knots.
Are there waves at Sanur or is flatwater kiting.
Stay at Sanur or West side?
Any tips appreciated.
used search myself

If anyone has any other tips?
Absolutely Sanur for flat water.
Beware of tide and wear some shoes.
You don't need to bring your pump...Stay at Sanur (8Euros/day) and rent a motorbike (I was told US$4/day)...
If you don't have an International license, don't rent it since the Police is everywhere.
Very nice car can be rented for 100 -200 000 rp/day. With a driver is possible, negotiate a price.
For absolute beginners like me, far end of Sanur beach where Junkie has got kiting school is a go!
Much better than across Sanur beach hotel, at least for me...
I have been to Bali over a dozen times and also worked there for 12 months. I was taught by Kadek and Komang from BKS (Jankies school) around 3 years ago.
Motor bikes are 50,000 a day. (1 $ au = 7800Rp) That is the going rate. You can get an international licence from vic roads or NRMA ect over the counter for $45. (take a passport pic and your aussie licence) If you don't have an international licence no probs. A 'fine' will be applied which really is a bribe. Going rate is 50,000rp.. Tip for beginners. Wear a helmet, drive crazy (aggressive) like the locals and don't worry about the police. If you get pulled over pay the fine straight away and be on your way. Another tip for beginners. Don't have a wallet full of cash on you when you pay the fine. The more you have the more you will pay.
Accom at a guesthouse such as Rita's Homestay in Sanur is 120,000-150,000 a night. I have stayed here and was getting it for 3 mil a monthl. Contact Jankie and he will give you more accom options.. Oh do yourself a favour and eat at his italian restaraunt.. It's a decent place. Cheap too.
Size kite.. 12m without a doubt. Gear hire expensive..... Reef cuts and coral at low tide. Be warned!!!
we just got back a couple of weeks ago, got bikes for 40,000 a day, even cheaper if you hire for longer , and yes don't open your wallet in front of the cops loaded with cash. My mate got stung for 300,000 rph and the cop that got him had some nice gold jewellery. i was there for 2 weeks riding all over the island and didnt get pulled over once.
