Hi everyone, my name is chris broad,

I had a bit of a mishap at coronation beach on Wednesday, I jumped a wave and it kind of went, well....wrong

broke my leg on landing, pretty badly as it turned out, pretty much shattered both bones and had one poking out. I tried sailing my rig to get back in and swimming with the kit, was reasonably difficult And wasn't making great progress as you can imagine with a leg flapping around Behind me. I got the attention of a German windsurfer on holidays there, sorry I can't remember his name, a kilter called Gavin came by shortly after and towed me back to the beach, think we were about 800m out, not sure.

when we got to the beach those guys stayed with me and recovered my kit, there was another kilter, think his name was rod, might have that wrong as I was in a lot of pain, he called the ambulance and they stayed with me, got me up onto the shore, and we waited for the ambulance to come, seemed like it took forever

We waited on the beach for the ambulances in the end another guy called Eric, I think, again apologies if I have any names wrong. they used a windsurfing board as a stretcher and put me in the back of erics car taking me back to the car park, where the ambulance had finally arrived. And I was taken into the emergency department of the regional hospital.

im sure I'm not adequately doing justice to the actions of the people on the day, and I cannot express how grateful I am to everyone on that day for their actions and assistance.

I got flown down to Perth on rfds Thursday night and have had an operation in geraldton to clean the wound and an operation in Perth to insert a metal rod and get leg on the way to recovery. Not sure how long I will be down in Perth for probably a week, if any of the people who helped me or know of them read this, can you please let me know your contact details as I would love to catch up and thank you when I get back to town, I am truly amazed by the actions of friends and strangers, and very grateful for the assistance I received in a fairly nasty situation . feeling a lot of love for great people involved in a great sport. Thanks guys
