hi,

I'm headed down to WA from Canada with a mate for a while.
I want to check on the winds though before we set our flight dates.

What are the winds and swells typically like in February and March? Is that the biggining, middle or end of the wind season?

What about wetsuits? are we going to need them?

We'll be hanging out mostly in Fremantle a while for freestyle and some time in M.River (and maybe Esperance) for some waves.

thanks,
Kyle

Kyle,

Season starts getting dodgy from late Feb/early March. We can get troughed out for 4-5 days at a time, but you can also get 2 weeks of 20+ knot seabreezes. Jan/Feb is the peak, March is flukey and the season is pretty much over in April.

Swell is typically still small (<2m) although building. Just depends on the weather, big cold fronts in the southern ocean = big waves.

Won't need a wetsuit in Perth, will probably like one in Margs and Esperance though.
