Hi,

not having a rant here and am consciuos of the big efforts WAKSA volunteers put in but seriously the WAKSA website is knackered.
It hangs/crashes and is generally a total dog to navigate.

I was visiting as I'm pretty sure my membership is due but have not received notice (again) this year.

jeeeesussss....you just can't help but whinge can ya GF.....

The site got a complete make over last season because it WAS a dog. The Association spent signficant $$ to get things right, including fixing up the location guidelines & making the site work easier for all. To say it's a dog to navigate tells me that you're even more IT illiterate than I am, and trust me, that's saying plenty.

Membership renewals will come from AKSA, not WAKSA, to the email address provided by individual members. If anyone has changed emails/jobs etc since last renewing their membership, & not updated contacts they most likely won't get a 'reminder' as such....

For what it's worth, I got my reminder last week.

Dog? blowing raspberries at you mate......and yes, that's my red thumb above!!!

Sounds like you need to go on Long Service Leave Juddy or spend a day on a IT Helpdesk.

GF was your computer turned on????

Steady on Juddy.

I'm entitled to voice a reasonable concern and you are barking up the wrong tree as though I have a long history of WAKSA bashing ??

Don't get personal mate - or go off half cocked and act the goose, your call.

As noted the volunteers do a great job.

However..

Updated my email with WAKSA recently, yet no renewal has arrived (again) from WAKSA/AKSA. As a member for many years I'm entitled to be concerned if my rego lapses and I haven't received my renewal.

Not 1st time I have had to chase up my annual renewal. Considering insurance is the primary motivation for most members this is not cool.

Website is soooo sloooow and clunky it's just not funny. Not a biggy I guess, but potential lapsed insurance for members, yes that is a kn biggy.

Not having a rant, just needs to be fixed or there may be trouble for WAKSA/AKSA/members.

BTW - my reason for posting on the WAKSA forum was that in the past I have waited for several days before getting a reply via WAKSA webby and realising my membership has most likely expired I wanted a quick answer.

To WAKSA's credit I have recieved a reply via the webby already. Unfortunately it provided no answer to my question and the reply was:

With regards to membership renewal WAKSA is awaiting confirmation from KA (formally AKSA) who has renewed their membership and who has not.

Of course there is going to be hiccups with a huge changeover from state to national etc, but lets remember WAKSA/AKSA/KA membership is largely driven by the desire to be insured and this has to sorted pronto or it will lead to BIG probs.

It's a fair call about the website.

I've been trying to access on Firefox and IE, trying to get some location info, it's very slow and a lot of the time doesn't load up completely.

Thank you for your consern and your post.

I am aware of issues with the WAKSA Website. Please be patient I am working on it but like Juddy I am also a Technophobe. Be aware that WAKSA is a vollentary organisation and I am working crazy hours trying to sort out Kite Stock , Some kite Racing, the Red Kite downwinder all in addition to my day job which is also hectic as ever.

If you have Website skills and want to help out with the WAKSA site please message me as any help would be great to keep us functioning well.

Regards

Steve

So its' been a month and i have still had no follow up on my mebership status.

Just to re-iterate I do appreciate the efforts made by volunteers but when KS and comps take precidence over membership (the #1 reason for the majoirity of members signing up) then something is amiss.

Red thumb all you like, but WAKSA/AKSA need to address the mess-ups with mebership renewal year after year.

Get it sorted!

Hey Funky I wasn't sure when mine was due so I just logged onto the www.aksa.com.au/ website viewed my profile, it was due on the 26 Oct, so whilst I was there I clicked the renew link and paid via PayPal.

Not sure if I would have been sent a reminder (or if I already have somewhere in this pile of mail that I have to sort through) but either way it was sorted in minutes.

Thanks tighty.

Call me a Gumby (plenty do ) but I can't see where to log-in? Looked on the home page, under membership etc etc but nuttin??

OK so you have to click - 'Join WAKSA', then click 'Join now' then you are re-directed to the AKSA site and then can see the field to log in if you are an existing member. Only then can I see my details.

Log-in needs to be on the WAKSA home page for my 2c. (Not trying to bag here but make a suggestion to allow the site to be more user friendly)

Just recieved the info on my renewal (thanks Juddy).
