why did you not raise this as general business and nominate yourself for a position on the committee so that you could address your concerns?

the medal is not the point, we are supposed to be encouraging this sort of thing.
Just giving a kid some recognition for trying would have been nice that is all. I welcome some of the unconstructive comments for what they are totally unconstructive. Lets just take this as something that was missed out and rectify it next time.

Dear Watcher
It was outlined at the AGM that the primary function of WAKSA is to address kitesurfing issues related to :
1) Safety.
2) Beach Access.
3) Events - aimed at involving the majority of members.
4) Competitions - which encourage as wide participation as possible.

We can assure you that, in working towards goals within all of these areas, encouragement of our junior kitesurfers is a consistent & major priority. We agree wholeheartedly that our juniors represent the future of our sport. Your suggestion that we broaden the recognition of all participants in competitions, but especially the youth, is entirely valid. We value that input and will ensure that it is given full consideration in planning next years event.
Had you alerted us of your concerns on the night of the AGM we may well have been able to avoid the disappointment you have obviously experienced.

It was also stated at the AGM that the committee is there to represent and work on the behalf of ALL members. We actively encourage and welcome ALL input and offers of assistance. We would like take this further opportunity to remind all forum readers that WASKA has specifically designed a 'hot-line' for anyone to actively communicate directly with the committee. Feedback emailed to waksa@waksa.org.au is automatically distributed to every committee member and is immediately recorded in an appropriate WAKSA working file.
We encourage all interested parties, members & others, to make use of it. Your contributions can only improve the future of WAKSA and kitesurfing generally.

your waksa crew

the winner got a nice shiny trophy, the others have to work harder to get their name on it next time.... but mentioning names of the runners up could have been done.
i entered to have some fun and i did have a lot of it. some of the guys said good effort for giving it a go and spent a good 10 mins telling me how i could improve in the next heat.
so saying WASKA isn't encouraging the youth definitely isn't a good call

it seem that some of the windsurfing committe have jumped ship and are now helping the kiting world. how many committe members does it take to understand that second place is not the first loser and even though he or she did nt win that ,there effort for showing up and paying your entry fee should be reward with some small token of waksa good faith . but i surpose that they are only juniors and dont pay full entry fee any way .

Hi All
WAKSA members would probably be aware, but for the sake of other forum readers we would like to advise that the WA State Freestyle Championships was a 'free entry' event. There was no charge at all for competing in any age group or division.

your waksa crew.

TOTAL LET DOWN.....

you didnt get encouragement from an outside body??? Im confused didnt you get encouragement from going up against other people and coming second.... are you kite surfing for public recognition, a medal or yourself??
Congratulations that you came second, hopefully THAT might encourage you to get a little bit better by next year and win the thing...if thats your goal.
Im not trying to abuse you but sometimes unhealthy perspectives on things arent cool.
Its unfortunate WASKA didnt mention you and you have a right to feel disappointed but dont act like the pakistani cricket team and get on with it.
Good winds and good luck for next year.....
comps are what they are just a comp
