So who's got a prediction for the season?

Early November and we're already troughed out!

Anyone following the sea surface temp forecasts?

I know right was thinking the exact same thing. Real early to be troughing out. Normally an early jan thing...

Wonder if the boys down Albany are getting some wind then.

....just checked, oooh looks great down there next two days.

Hi eppo. Ive been down in Albany for the last few days on a bit of a family break. Wind just never seems to stop. This is our 1st visit to this part of WA. There has been a few guys at "Frenchman Bay" each day & also at "Middleton beach" in the afternoons. Here is a photo from late this afternoon ( Wednesday ) taken down at Middleton Beach.

^ is that a legrope reel attached to his harness?

Indian Ocean Dipole is set to be neutral through summer. We should get a "normal" wind and rainfall pattern in WA.

La Nina is on "watch" meaning it could potentially develop.

So so i've been out a few times but wind has been a bit patchy close to shore.

From memory November was average last year where, December and January cranked. I was on my 7m + SB @ 88kg for those two months in Perth Metro. Conditions went to ** in Feb pretty much troughed out for the whole month then it was okay again for March & April.

December & Jan made it a Good season me :) still kited 6 months of the year.

NOPE.

January was an absolute shocker, troughed out and didn't blow for nearly the entire month.

Nov, dec were actually really good last season. I know I kited so much I ruptured my groin and couldn't kite for 7 months.

Which didn't really matter because the season sucked wang after December unless you lived in the mid west.

As i said from memory and i was in Lano for first 2 weekends where we had good wind just ask the 300 competitors in the LOC.

Stats for Ocean reef from BOM for Jan 2017 shows consistent seabreeze most afternoons.

So January had 16 days of 18 knots or more. That's Ocean Reef though.

As Eppo's in Mandurah he may have got skunked some of those days.

Okay so Mandurah was troughed out for Jan according to Eppo. Ocean Reef recorded an average wind speed of 18 knots @ 3pm for 16 days with S, SSW wind gusts in excess of 20 knots for 24 days for the month of Jan. That's not a trough that's a seabreeze. As i originally posted it was from memory but i do remember the previous 2 summers to this year were troughed out for January that's why i enjoyed it his year.

At the end of the day i had a blast this January.

Must be a south west thing Weta, as further south of Mandurah we were bitching and moaning that the season was the worst we have had in years. November and December was smoking and it was shaping up to be an epic season......then wamo, it all turned to ****e in Jan and Feb.

As for this season, it hasn't shaped up into anything yet apart from a few random days.

Makes a big difference actually. The large estuary affects the wind here. We have different wind patterns, strength and direction to safety bay.
