Hi there.

Was just wondering what the rules are for teaching kitesurifng in and around Perth?

Obviously all the IKO instructor rules apply, ie Insurance, all proper safety equipment (Helmets, Lifejackets etc....) but are there any rules to which beaches you can teach on? ie, do certain kite schools own the rights to teach at particular beaches?

Cheers

Dave

Hi Dave,

Yes, you do have to conform to IKO type rules and also local council laws and requirements. This means permits, insurance and the likes.

Some schools have exclusive rights to teach on particular beaches, so make sure you steer clear of these schools otherwise you will probably get a tap on the shoulder from the local ranger or worse still, the owner of the kite school who is permitted to teach there.

There are only a handful of quality teaching beaches in Perth and most of them have schools on them. The legit ones will carry a trading in public places permit on their van/trailer as is required by council.

Call me if I can be of assistance.

Good luck,

KH
