Haven't kited there myself but know people that have and the only draw back is the lack of beach to launch and land. mostly drift launching off a boat. Maybe they could go and get all the sand from port Gregory that's filled the bay in and dump it on one of the islands to make a kite beach

Edit: by lack of beach I mean not a lot of clean sand without sharp coral in it. But hey I haven't been just what I've heard

could set up c-loop attach points on land, and rubber pads/mats for pumping up kites over, and then do a tethered launch with kite sitting just over water each time if that solved the problem?

just day dreaming about it because it is a bucket list place for me. never been either. would love to though

re: gregory - is it still a bit tricky to fuel up?

Don't see why something like that wouldn't work. The old blue 10 dollar tarp from Bunnings and a good tether post. If a kite camp were to set up I'm sure they could have some flash launch and landing zone that doesn't upset the greenies

Went fishing out of port Gregory about a year ago. Nice and shallow still even for a little 5m boat.

ive been and im currently researching on doing a kite camp in wa, ive got access from land owners to some of the most spectacular kiting terrain,
but theres a huge ammount to consider from accomodation, safety , logistics, etc etc etc etc, as timmy mentioned $15000, that might buy one of the 2 motors reqd for a suitable boat, to do a safe and quality camp itd need an input of around $80,000, wa is also a tricky one as the state has dependable winds and suffers from the duldrums in the non kiting season when crew are looking to get on the water, as the abrohlos islands go theres little doubt that its a spectacular spot, but just think of the cost and hard work to take a crew to said spot for a week, inc food, safety , refridgeration, toilet facilities, shower, etc etc etc etc, its a headeache unless you have an astablished camp

That's an insane right hander there.
I'm so jealous that you guys have such untouched remote areas like that , SW seems to be crossoff so boat support would be a must . I'm surprised that KOTP doesn't take charters out there , being as experienced as he is with the area I'm sure there are reasons . Anyways good luck with your venture guys .
