I know I say this every year
But is the safety bay wind meter accurate it seems to be 5knts higher than everywhere else inlcuding Rotto. Which would lead you to believe it were inaccurate.

Anyone have any thoughts?

The meter is on my place... no problems with it. It is just excessively windy in sbay mate! I think it's the fact rocko is on a peninsula but also still close to shore, so it is in the middle of the seabreeze effect. Even windier out at Pengos, compared to say Warnbro beach or the pond. Often i see the wind speed difference compared to rotto even out later in the day.

Eg just now...
...time for a kite!

A webcam mounted on the weather mast is the easy part. If you sus out the hosting, I'll buy the cam. Are you on pondlife?

Ok i think i have worked it out. I just need an IP camera then i will use 'motion' on the raspberry pi to pick an image and send it to Laurie by ftp, then he can display it.

So i need an IP camera that will work with motion. U prob need a polarised filter and maybe zoom or wide lens to get a good snap of the pond area.

What do peeps want to see ? Whitecaps or pond traffic?

I live the pondlife everyday. Nah not sure what u mean?

This is what can work with motion:

Network cameras are set up via the netcam_url parameter. The latest versions of Motion support rtsp format which many cameras now stream. Some users have requested a list of the network cameras that will work with Motion. Since Motion can now process RTSP streams, almost all cameras are supported. Simply review the specifications of the camera and validate that RTSP or RTMP is listed. The cameras that will not work are those specifically sold to be integrated into proprietary software monitoring systems. When determining cameras, consider carefully before selecting a wireless camera. Cameras require a solid consistent signal and use a lot of bandwidth. Inconsistencies in the wireless signal can result in a poor user experience so the use of a hardwired camera is recommended. The URL connection string to enter is specific to the camera and is usually provided by the manufacturer. The connection string is the same as what would be used by other video playing software such as VLC. If the camera does not stream via RTSP and instead uses a MJPEG, then Motion can also view that format. See the option netcam_url for additional options.
