Hey amras,

There are lots of great locations in the north.

Quinns Rocks - Choppy flat water
Mullaloo (restrictions apply - seek advice) - Choppy wavey conditions
Pinnaroo Point - Choppy flat water
Sorrento - some restrictions apply - seek advice) - Choppy flat water
Watermans Beach - Surf (but dodgy launch and land - no beginners!)
Trigg Beach - Surf
Contacio's - Surf
Brighton Beach Surf
Floreat Beach - Surf
City Beach - Surf
Swanbourne Beach (Nudists and rifle bullets) -Surf
Cottesloe (Dutchys) Some waves
Leighton Beach - Flat choppy water
Pelican Point (city river kiting) - flat water

All are good, and different so maybe decide what suits and front up to the locals and ask them what the go is for each spot.
