Hey guys! New kitesurfer here - have just started going upwind, turning, and being fully independent. I had a challenging time getting comfortable with kitesurfing at the beginning. So much gear and so many things to think about :DAnyways - would love to know where your favorite spot to kite in WA is?

I did a kitesurfing trip in December and have to say that Shark Bay is on the top of my list. Such a great place for newbs looking for flat water and perfect conditions. Local spot is City Beach since I'm not ready to take on the crowds and waves at Brighton in Scarborough just yet!

I also have a blog if you'd like to check that out and share with whoever! :)

Nice article Chantae! Shark bay is pretty special.

Interested by your comment about shark bay being twice as salty as the ocean. It's obviously connected to the ocean, but had never heard that before.

Thanks for the nice comment Dave!

Yeah, it is fascinating! Because Shark Bay is so shallow and has a high number of sea grass types, the evaporation rate is super high with the hot climate. So, the bay water is evaporating, turning to clouds, raining elsewhere... but the salt stays! I think little lagoon is much, much saltier than that even!
