Set up my kite on the beach in Madora Bay on Saturday afternoon but left my harness in the car by mistake. Returned to the car to find two guys trying to steal my spare tyre from the back of the car.

As they were armed with a wheel brace I yelled out from the edge of the carpark and they took off in an old white 4wd (Hilux???) Passenger yelled abuse out the window which took my attention from the number plate. Bugger....

Just to advise all to be wary down here as well. Looks like Ill be walking down the beach next time...

Yeah it's worth a two minute walk with your gear to give you peace of mind. I had a sesh at Safety Bay recently and there was not a soul anywhere, with all my kit in plain view it's a sitting duck for theiving losers to hit, so a quick drive to the front of a house with cars outside etc gives it a bit less risk. It's only going to be a problem if the wrong person comes along, but if that person comes along and there is an opportunity, your'e screwed.

Parking your car anywhere with your gear in it is a risk nowdays I'm glad i just have to walk across the road. If i have to park anywhere I make sure it's where it's in an area that's no isolated.
