Hello,

I'm trying to understand what happened with the winds today.

The easterly came through in the morning and showed up but for some reason in the sea breeze didn't even though it was . Yet rottnest had a strong southerly and ocean reef had a strong southerly also.

Can anyone explain this to me!

wind went very flukey up trigg way about 4pm'ish, my guess would be the trough moving about. Very nearly got caught offshore if not for some tremendous gusty kite skills

Sorry for the poorly written post. Combination of daily exhaustion and disappointment.

Jist of the question is:

Is leigthon kitesurfable on a easterly wind? My experiences at leighton with easterlies is that they don't show up.

Cheers

Dan,

golden rule # 1: if it's easterly, you don't go kiting @ WA beaches - it's offshore & it's a long long swim if it goes pear shaped. If it's easterly, you're pretty much limited to kiting on the river....

Cheers,

I can see how a pure easterly can turn out terrible, hopefully the current is westerly to drag you back in :S

Golden Rule # 2: Please refer back to Rule 1.

The currents are generally heading south, combine that with the Easterly and you are still going out to sea south easterly.
