I have seen on the internet that people kite at south perth foreshore. Is there a waksa approved rigging location there .Ive checked the website cant find any info.
Anyone know any info on kiting there?
there is no approved rigging area . It's best done with someone else to help launch land . It can be done and has been done many times . Just have to have a NE for the best wind .
Best places to launch are either near mends street jetty or just west of the cats.

let me set the record straight.. No one kites there for a reason....
WAKSA cannot stop anyone kiting anywhere. They cant enforce any rules at all. They have zero juristiction.
You can kite there if you wish, however I would not unless it was pumping NE as what dusta said previous post. Its on a par with Pelican Point for enjoyment.
It can go wrong pretty quick if you stuff things up. Plus you will have an audience for your error and you may look like a bell end if it goes sideways.
I remember a few seasons ago a dude was in loads of trouble and couldnt releanch due to crap wind. It was all happening for him that day and I bet he regrets even trying to kite there. I watched his board float off never to be seen again. Plus he had no idea how to pack down in the water after about 45 mins of trying to relaunch.
I bet its gusty as due to the skyscrapers too!.Ive never kited at pelican point and it never interested me.Ill probably give to south perth foreshore a miss!.

Dusta, do you know if it's ok to rig up at applecross foreshore that faves the city , think it's called Jeff Joseph reserve, near the jetty. Cheers
Hi Peeps,
I've kited at Sth Perth foreshore only once, it was terrible. We did it as part of the Red Bull Air races entertainment or something similar from memory. Very on and off with the wind, very gusty when it was in and loads of boat and ferry traffic. I would suggest finding a better alternative. Head to Pt Walter in a E - NE direction, much better.

nothing to say you can't . i've launched from there . Not the best spot though . Wind is pretty turbulent

i'vbe seen a couple of wind surfer and kite surfer set up near the jetty end (just past the majestic walk way) there is quite a bit of open grass, i thought it could be quite dangerous with the jetty in the way and also there is bugger all beach area for most of the beach...
I've been down there twice and got my gear out of the car and changed my mind due to a bad gut feeling. Would hate to be on the news after cutting someone with a kite line or having a run in with a surf cat etc etc. Heaps of people around most of the time and lots of kids on bikes. The footpath is quite close to the water and the trees are strategically placed to make a self launch quite difficult
