I'm just facing a windless weekend and was wondering if there were any kiters that are keen on surfing as well...
Dunno the spots around Perth yet, so where do all the bloody rookies like I am one go?

It depends where you live... As a rookie your options are much wider than an experienced surfer. You can get out anywhere you see a wave breaking. The large sandy open stretch between City Beach, through Scarborough to Trigg Point offers plenty of space & little peaks along the way good for a rookie.
Just pleeeeaase dont do what so many learners do these days & simply padle out where everyone else is. Find a spot away from the main packs (of surfers) where you can pick up your surfing skills without getting in the way of others. Its much more dangerous surfing in the packs as well....boards flying everywhere!!
Surfing etiquette is really important. I cannot stress this enough!! Just as much if not more than the need for good etiquette when kiting. It will be especially important this weekend when the beaches are going to be packed!
Anyways, enough of my lecture...get out there & enjoy, you wont have to wait long for the winds :)
Ha yeah I saw that with the surf etiquette on Flynn's ( Phillip Island) and got up at 3.30 to be there at 4.30 to avoid crowds...

Hi, if your about this weekend im heading up to Lancelin to go kiting! But if theres no wind i will try and get a surf, theres a friendly beach up there were lots of people learn. I will be heading up there midday Sat and coming back on Sunday, ill be staying at a mates house. Its not my place to offer accomadation but there is a great hostle or camp site which are both close to the beach. If your intrested let me know and you can catch a lift with me.

hey its that lil blond kid from mullaz who got them kites off kent yer kents m8. yer im probs going to little island on weekend for a surf great spot no peeps there and a mad wave so yer theres some room on the boat if you wana come out there. by the way if you dont no were it is go done to mullaz and look out into the ocean wsw and u will see it.
