Hi folks,
I finally have permission and the opportunity to kitesurf in Western Australia.
I am going to leave the family at home for ten days and myself and my friend are looking for any locations you are willing to share. Although we are ageing we still like flat water spots, easier on the knees!
I have been on your very informative Western Australia kitesurf site. There some famous flat spots in and around Perth. Very busy I bet!
Our plan is to head north to Exmouth and work back. We arrive on the 29th November 2015.
I would be very grateful if any body could spare a few lines. About wind?kites.. Do I need my 17 Zephyr?
We are probably going to do camper van but it's quite expensive so might go car and camp site cabins.
Thoughts on this would be appreciated two.
Cheers Rob and Andy.
Great place to start at exmouth, then work your way south, caernarvon has some decent conditions, then shark bay, about then you'll think bugger I should have come for longer, then on to Gregory, horrocks, coros, gero, Dongara, about now your rethinking your life, stuff the house, mortgage, job, missus , dog, I'm staying here,![]()
What Cauncy said!
If you need anything bigger than a 10/11 at that time of year then you would've lucked out - wind gods would've frowned upon you.
Once in Exmouth you might not want to go any further south - it has so much to offer.
No you won't need a zephyr , unless you want an early morning kite, generally you can get out around 11am on a zephyr then changing down to ten around lunch, by 4 you'll be hanging on to your 7 wondering if your pushing your luck asking your missus if you can buy a 5 or 6, as for exmouth drop Tgcp a line at exmouth kite centre, Scotty at exmouth camper hire, there's plenty of free camp spots around here, 72hr stops, some towards shark bay , here's a stretch of coast north of Dongara that's littered with great camp spots
Thank you gentlemen for all of the above.
I be just counting down the days from now on.
That quad is a beast cauncy and is on my extensive toy list along with the 5 metre.
I will leave the Zephyr at home and my 12 can be my light wind kite. I have a 7 and 9 that will hopefully get some stick while I am there.
The possibilities look endless up the coast! I been digging around on google earth at those mentioned locations.
Yes and already looking like at least a months worth of kiting would not cover it.
Many thanks rob and Andy
Will keep you posted.
