Hi guys,
Im planning a 2 week camping trip at the start of december. I have a 4wd and am after peoples opinions on the best spots.
I have only kited in the metro area and need to experience the beauty of wa's coast ie shark bay, exmouth and coral bay.
After flat water.
My girlfriend will be learning to kite too so would have to be reasonably beginner friendly.
We will have our dog with us so some areas may be restricted for us.
Cheers guys.
Sandy bay Exmouth is great flat water and good for beginners....you can't take dogs there because its national park... But if you stay at Yardy Creek Homestead Caravan Park ( 30mins away) they allow dogs and even have dog sitting service for when u go kiting ..
At that time of year.... too close to call mate, try anywhere in the bracket.
Just use common sense when it's GF's turn.
I do second what Monkers said - but it's a hell of a way to go for two weeks.
Some good flat(ish) spots around Denham. Carnarvon is a good place to have a break on the way up to Exmouth. Great flat water spot at river mouth. Dogs allowed at some camping sites (on terrace). Exmouth is awesome and there are various inexpensive houses where dogs are allowed, with leafy fenced gardens so you can leave the dog when going to the national park. Dog beaches are e.g. Town beach and you can kite there if it is blowing easterly. If you find some good dog friendly accomodation anywhere on that tour I'd be keen reading about it. Have fun!
I posted a similar post in the general forum a couple of weeks ago.... We've booked a camper and were also thinking about heading up to exmouth over the Xmas period... The general concensus is that it will be hot as hell up there, especially if camping and we'll be driven close to insanity by flies. And the possibility of an early cyclone.
We're now thinking of heading south as far as Esperance or Albany.
Anyone agree with that sentiment?
Exmouth has a few great flat water and wave spots, the is a kite school for the gf run by locals, it does get hot in town but you can wipe out 10 to 15 deg on the ocean side when the sb kicks in, some shade on the beach and a dip cools you down, balmy stunning evenings with a cold beer, I honestly carnt remember the flies, I was too busy kiting, been going for a fair few years an amazing kite spot
