Hi Guys and Girls,

Im trying to plan a trip to Augusta but can't seem to find any first hand information on the spots.

How windy can we expect it to be on average? I hear of 35-40knot days, is that just one offs or does that happen often?

What do I need to look for in a forecast down there? whats your average size kites?

Any info would be great. TIA

Check the Margaret River forecast SE is the best Augusta generally 10 knots more. As for spots you'll see once you get the surf beach is good for a play in the waves. Then kite down the cut. Tacking back up the cut can be fun!
As for kite sizes spent 6 days down there over New Years anywhere from 7.5 on the real windy days up to my 11 most times. The river has changed a lot still some awesome bits but real shallow in places. A lot colder than Exmouth take warm clothes tends to get real chilly at night!

Hi Tgcp, I have generally found Augusta more consistent later in the season. Feb/ March best and April can be good... Its really good when the temp in Perth hits 40degree plus.. for some reason this generates heaps of wind down there.... As Brewcie said check out the Margaret River forecast ( add approx. 3 knots) but then look at the actually readings a Leeuwin Lighthouse. SE is the preferred direction. check out the tread from the last few weeks that related to launching and landing conditions down there..

December/January are also good if you enjoy 35+ knots
