My deflate bung popped out the other day leaving me to swim back to shore with a heavy sack of kite. Quite a lot of water went into the bladder and I've gotten most of it out but it's still pretty wet in there.
Are there any tricks to drying out the inside of a bladder?
Surely this is not an uncommon problem?
Hey dude,
Your better off posting this in the general section... you'll get heaps more replies.
I just had this happen last week. Not easy dragging a deflated kite through the water is it... All my pinch off conections on my one-pump system had opened too, so i had ZERO air and ZERO buoyancy.
Anyway, my recommendation is to pump it up in some windless place, pull the bung but cover it with your finger, and then try to manipulate the kite (a girlfriend would have been handy here) so that the bung is the lowest point and then slowly bleed the air (and hence water) out. Do this a few times.
Once you've got most of the free water out, pump it up, leave it in the sun and then deflate. If you do this a few times, it'll get dry.
Thanks mate,
Do you know if salt is going to screw up the bladder? or should I run some fresh water through it before trying to dry it out?
