Hey Kiters!
So, as most of you know, I've been loving creating fun ways for kiters to shred downwind and spend more time on the water, with ease. This past season, I started the transport trips to Lancelin, primarily for the Lano-Wedge downwinder. A crew of between 12-18 shredders made it up every time and it was a blast. The Upwinder connects the crew, organises the transport, provides beers and water and just aims to facilitate a great time for anyone that ones to get involved. This past season we learnt that the downwinder isn't worth doing unless conditions are spot on, and wouldn't go ahead with the downwinder in the future with subpar forecasts.
Anyway, I've loved organising this run and want to make it bigger, better and more fun for all for next season and am keen for your ideas!
I'd like to ;
- Head to Lano EVERY SUNDAY of next season (Dec-Feb), leaving Perth at 11am
- Organise lunch for everyone to eat on the bus
- Bring beers for all
- Be on the water by 2pm
- Bring learners (to the school area)
- Bring wave riders (to south Passage)
- Bring freestylers (to the point)
- Set up a 'base' for kiters seshing the point
- Offer pickups from Wedge for downwind riders
THEN
- Wrap up the day with unlimited pizza and beers (7pm)
- Be back in Perth at 9-10pm
I'm keen to do this as I enjoy it and can't for the life of me understand why anyone would choose to go to the gym over going kiting! Do you think it would be fun to wrap up (or start) every week of next summer with an epic day trip?
Would you be in? If not, why?
Thanks for your comments!

Things to note
- The Upwinder facilitates transport and good times. We DO NOT and CAN NOT supervise you on the water. We are like a party bus. We are insured like a party bus.
- This season on one of our trips we received feedback about etiquette for kiting South Passage. As most crew heading out there do downwinders, we weren't in the area for long. Nonetheless, next year I will provide some guidelines to kiters about how to best share the stoke through south passage.
Love it mate, keep up the good work. I reckon its an awesome idea. If I was in Perth I'd be in every weekend for sure.
I already think what you are doing is amazing and wouldn't change too much. If I was to suggest anything it would be to maybe run it on a Saturday?? That way if crew wanted have more than a few brew's after they could. It also opens up the door to guys staying the night up there as well (Saturday night at the Endeavour can be fun)?
You just laid out my dream day. I know three or four kiters who would take you up on it. Love your vibe man. Keep it going!
I'd be keen for a Sunday, even keener for a Saturday.
I'd even be keen to bring my own 4wd in convoy, save room on the van up there for someone else.
One more kiter who would be keen to do this on lots of Saturdays and Sundays. Saturdays are preferable, as 10pm Sunday is a late return with work rearing its ugly head on Monday morning.
Thanks for the positive feedback everyone!
Saturdays it is!
This season the Lancelin Lodge and Backapckers helped me out logistically a few times. They're a good crew! I'll organise trips on Saturdays and try work with the Lodge to organise accomodation for those wanting to stay the weekend.
I'll also work out flexible options so people can choose to hitch a ride on the Upwinder or meet up there (which we did this season anyway).
Looking forward to some frontal winter winds,

I am gutted I missed out last season and am defiantly in for next season. Had a great session up in Lano Thursday just gone out at south passage and forgot how fun it can be. Any help assistance you need feel free to ask. Woop woop:)
Strange thread title. ??
"How much better than cross fit is kitesurfing " ?
lol.
Hey Up guy, are you some kind of gym-junkie or something ?
Why are you comparing kitesurfing with some kind of stupid workout activity (namely cross fit).
Kitesurfing is playing in the water, grabbing the gusts.
Don't get ?
lol.
