There was a thread last year talking about the City of Rockingham dredging out the Eastern most tip of the pond.
I was curious to see what was happening there so was poking about on nearmaps.
From between 7 June 17 and 25 Aug 15 the sand bar looks like its grown about 36m (measuring from the channel marker to the closest bit of the sand bar)! Seems to have grown 263m since Feb 09
Anyone local know what Rockingham have planned down there? Will the dredging keep going or will the throw in the towel?
If they do, how long till the pond fills in? Check the photos..
I thought they did the dredging to stop the growth of the sandbar into the channel. If so it seems to have backfired big time and accelerated the growth recently
The old rangers hut behind the boat ramp which is now about 150m inland used to be on the beach mid 50s im told. Council will be at it for lifetimes i reckon...
Should just let the stink pool fill in.Not worth fighting the inevitable just for a few boaties.
Given the money spent on the boat ramp/their efforts so far, I get the feeling they'll do whatever they need to do to keep the boat ramp functioning till the pond is all but gone.
