Hi guys,
We are planning to hire a motorhome and head north mid November.
If we see a top spot we would like to set up camp there. Are there any camping restrictions between Perth and Monkey Mia?

Planned the same type of trip in FNQ only to find out when we got there that there was an on the spot fine of $1500 for camping outside caravan parks

There's camping restrictions everywhere man. Within 25km of any town.
You can sleep overnight in parking bays for free but thats about it.
The good thing about this side of oz towns are very far apart.
There is a nice camp ground at the Murchison bridge on the highway but it can get busy with many staying a while.
So if your in a 2wd camper you can stay in caravan parks or designated camp grounds but some are almost like caravan parks now.

Hey Ian,

There are heaps of great free camps if you know where to look.

Try finding a book called "A guide to Priceless Campsites and Rest Areas in the North of Western Australia". 3rd edition written by Jan Holland

Published by Priceless Publishing

email: campsite(at)bigpond.net.au

We used it on our last trip and the lousy $28 it cost was saved in our first campsite. An excellent publication!

Cheers,

DM
