Has any one tried kiting near the Garden Island rock wall bridge on a Westerly? It looks like it would work but dont recall seeing anyone do it?

We used to. Was never really butter flat though for some reason. Until the beach access was fenced off. It said / says "due to unsocial behaviour". I wasn't to interested in finding out what kind of behaviour this referred to...

Thanks. I thought if anybody had tried it you would have been the one. Shame to hear it's not flat.

Kited it heaps over the years, you have to get out past the first bridge. Starts cleaning up the further you go out, but harder now with the access. Worth the run if nuking westerly or easterly.

On that bridge topic : is it possible to fly kite under the bridge? I'm keen on downwinder through there to Woodies. Has anybody done it yet?

Im pretty sure that the bridge is only a few metres high. You could get through in a small boat but not much more

I've jetski'd out there quite a few times, its never glassy like you get in the pond but I can confirm once you get past the first bridge it does go flat for about a km then gets rough again.

Have often thought about doing a down winder under the coat hanger bridge but its only one small gust and you're in a tangle that leaves you on the frontpage of the rocko rag. From the old jetski beach to Woodies, hammering along the East side of Garden Island where its flatter, avoiding lulls from the hills, would be doable, I'm keen come summer if anyone else is. Also keen on Secret Harbour to Shoalwater run.
