I find that I am underpowered 80% of the time on my 7m switchblade in Perth (I weigh 82kg and was thinking of stepping up to a 8m switchblade. I have been reading up on the drifter which looks realy good since I only ride a surfboard at Scarborough but the drifter does not come in a 8m only a 7 and 9. Some reviews state that the drifter's bottom end is not good and one can take 1m of the kite size. Therefore a 9m drifter would be the same as a 8m.

What would you get in the drifter range for Perth 7 or a 9?

I will appreicate some advice from the Cabrinha riders out there.

Yes, drifter has less bottom end, 9m Drifter would be similar to 8m SB, I have 7,9 drifter and have had 9,11 SB, always found SB to be much gruntier, perhaps 1-1.25 m more power. 9m drifter will kick in at around 17 knots and go up above 25 knots. So sounds like 9m is your ideal.

thanks for the confirmation Mate. Much appreciated. On the Cabrinha website they show the bottom end of the 9 drifter to be the same as the 8 switchy and teh top end to be the better than the 8 which I found hard to believe. Makes sense now.
