Im new to kite boarding, and have had my lessons with wasurf at Safety Bay.
I have been travelling to rockingham to gain confidence in getting up on the board and getting upwind. I havent yet mastered turning/change of direction.
How confident does one have to be to kite at citybeach/floreat.???
Are there any newbies in this area keen to kite here or somewhere close??
Depends on the swell and how many swimmers etc there are. The beach break can be pretty heavy to get out through.
If your a noob and want to kite/flounder in this area, make sure you do so north of Floreat Surf Club.
About 80m north of the club is a good start point. Where the beach patrol 4wd access track (angled NW) meets the beach. Start here or further north...
Dont noob south of this point.
Factor 5 makes a good point. Sure the walk and set-up is not as cushy as at the groin but you will get far more space and less chance of fouling swimmers etc North of the FSC/kids beach.
Sigh.. I remember the good ol' days (circa 95) when I learnt at Flozzer cause there were never any crowds and plenty of safe space. Those days are long gone and Flozzer groin is a circus a lot of the time.
Good luck KT.
Thanks a million.. appreciate the advice........ look forward to getting out in this area as its way closer to home for me..... rather than driving to safetybay all the time
