Call for Expressions to organise the Rottnest Run

The WAKSA committee recognises the high level of interest many members have in organising a convoy ride to Rottnest. Unfortunately the committee does not have the resources this season to manage a Rottnest event in addition to the host of other general member events we want to run. We've decided to focus our resources on organising a number of social/kiting events culminating with Kitestock in late February.

Rather than let the idea die out, we decided to advertise the suggestion in case there is anybody interested in organising some form of kitesurfing event from Perth to Rottnest.

WAKSA has a template model which was created by Ian Young in 2004. It involves extenstive liasion with various government authorities to gain the approvals needed and is a considerable exercise in coordination. It would be a mistake to underestimate the level of work involved. Yet having said that it could also be an event which would hold enormous publicity potential and support from the kitesurfing community.
