We live in Vietnam and flying to Perth around beginning of February. My wife and I kite and want to rent house/villa on the beach where we can kite and good for our 2 kids. We want to be in small town. Friends recommended Dunsborough’s beach. Any suggestions? We have never been to this part of Australia.
Thanks.

Hi Daniel
If you are a serious Kiter, Go for Lancelin, small fishing / watersports hotspot about 100Kms north of Perth.
Will have more wind and more reliable. Depends on what the kids like to do though, it can get a bit wind blown and not many shops, but its got a great holiday vibe with many overseas kiters and windsurfers hanging out. Lots of safe swimming , snorkling, massive dunes out the back, hire an offroad bike, sand boarding, etc.

pretty sure with a good sea breeze, dunsborough and most of geographe bay would be offshore (for dunsborough). Atleast you'd end up somewhere between Busselton and lancelin as opposed to Africa if you were to find yourself in trouble. Dunsborough is kinda small, but costs associated with staying on the foreshore in a shack/villa would not be. It has a heavy tourist season around december to March...ish and rents are at a premuim during this time, rest of the year its pretty quiet, but very nice if quiet appeals to you

Lancelin could be the way to go for you mate

Thanks. I was recommended Margaret River since it has more greenery. I have dune landscape in Vietnam so that sounds like Lancelin. I was told Margaret River swell however can be really high. I am ok confident but not for top crashing waves.

The best thing I have found about WA is that there are soo many great places to go for a kite and they are never to far away! You mite aswell just get over here and find a place that suits you best before dedicating yourself to one spot!
