The WAKSA newsletter recently stated:

quote:
ATTADALE FORESHORE - update
A new site guide is being prepared following our enquiries to all the relevant bodies. Basically the whole beach front from Paige St around to the windsurf carpark is completely off limits. However, if you kite in from Lucky Bay or the short beach west of Paige St and stay at least 50M offshore then kiting is OK.
Check the waksa locations guide for full details. It will be published shortly.

Well its actually "Page" Street, but what I want to know is what council by-law or state/fed govt statute is this controlled under - in short why cant I scoot around attadale ? Its an absolutely fantastic location in anything from the north. It seems like its just the rich bast*rds on Burke road who dont like young people doing things they cant. There's no signs anywhere to say you cant do this or cant do that, except that you cant let your dog off the leash on the footpath (wow - real important!)

So I dont understand how they expect people to know. I've heard its a marine reserve - but there's no sgns - and anyway so what? Kiting is not prohibited in other marine reserves.

I dont get it - why the secrecy? Are the authorities administering this area hoping to abuse their power by accusing people of breaching some secret law when they unwittingly break it?

Thats what it looks like to me.

Dude the place is a nature reserve.

Migrating birds do their thing in the water
People hide out in the bushes for months to catch a glimpse of a lesser spotted sort of bird. Kites, dogs, water craft even foils scare them off.

No kiting there.....Just like the nature reserve at Pelli point.

....try at night no one will see you then

Plus launching and landing amongst dogs and dog owners causes angst

If its a nature reserve why arent there any signs to that effect, stating the authority that administers it, and the rules that apply.

** we're not mind readers you know. Just because its been that way since federation doenst make it right.

There should at least be signage up there. Otherwise I reckon its a free for all - ignorace IS a defence if a zone is not reasonably signed.

Any lawyers out there ? Politicians who want to change the laws ? Protesters who want to walk nude up st georges terrace in the name of kiting Attadale Foreshore
