Has this summers wind been good/bad/average compared to previous years? I only started kitesurfing this summer and whenever I have some "Kite time" in the diary it seems that the wind has another idea. This week I have loads of spare time but looking at the wind report I will be lucky to get wet.

Good to average in melbourne, plenty of southerly bay side seabreeze days, I counted around 10 days in row of over 15 knots in the beginning of feb, Check the port phillip bay bom report out for the bayside report, wind guru for anything north to southwest, wind willy and kite bom.

If there's not enough wind to go upwind or hold ground do a down winder, which can be more fun than kiting in one spot anyway.

I reckon one of the best summers I have been kiting 3 years, have notched up 25 sessions so far this year not all of them good but most were either good or awesome.

I have logged around 24 sessions December 2014 through to now. Most of them have been great. Use a variety of forecasts to pick the best wind and get on it when its there.

First season for me to, but I reckon it's been great. I've had around 20 sessions, probably 10 or so in the 20-25knt range. Helps to live in St Kilda.

Hoping to continue on and get sessions over the winter (I surf all through the winter already so the cold's no real issue) - what's winter in St Kilda/Brighton like? Lucky to get 1 or 2 days of 20knt+ winds per week?

Yep the rip curl watch, disregard the wave count, it counts any runs towards shore as a wave
