I hope the guy(s) out there reached the shores safe and sound!

The wind was very unstable and it seams there was something wrong as there was no attempt to relaunch the kite.
A fellow kiter went out to see if everything was OK. They were approx.. 800m out!
Northerly wind in Seaford means a long drift to Frankston shores and a long hike back to Keast Park!

Looks like they are over the actual shipping channel. I hope no ships came by!

All good fellas.
They guy with his kite down had lost his board upwind and couldnt relaunch his kite.
I kited out and planned to retieve his board and deliver it down wind when he got his kite up.
Trying to manage two surfboards I dropped my kite and then accidently releaded my safety (cabrihna) . I then lost my board up wind (still had my mates board)
I reset my safety, relaunched and started to tack upwind to look for my board (wasnt going to give up easily on my beloved Nugget). It look a while but when i found it I used a short line and clip I keep tucked in my harness to attach to my board to my harness and headed in towing my board.
My mates kite was still down but he was getting close to shore so I kited past and told him I had his board, took his board to shore and kept an eye on him till he reached the beach.
A guy from Seaford Lifsaving club also came out, he must have also called the Police as they came to see us back at Carrum, confirming we were OK.
A few lessons learnt but all good in the end.

GOOD! Where do you ended up? Frankston Beach? I was thinking following you and give you a lift back, but the kids needed to go home kicking and screaming in the back of the car. Sorry! CS

All good mate, the people we were kiting with sent out the land search party.
I landed just south of seaford pier and my mate was a few hundred meters further down.
At least it was a balmy night for a bit of a swim, wouldnt want the same scenario in a few months.

Glad you made it back Nigel. Yeah, a few months on... wouldn't have been pretty.

Friendly reminder to anyone that may have invoked search and rescue to let the authorities know you're back on dry land. Same if you loose your board or kite. This avoids any unnecessary wild goose chases / bad press.

This is not directed at Nigel or anyone in particular, just a friendly reminder ( see, friendly).

glad to hear about your little adventure that carrying 2 boards is a fine art, I have a few dings in my surfboard due to carrying someone else's.

I don't understand the attraction of being that far out on what looks like a pretty boring bit of coast

Some of us don't understand the attraction of doing all tricks right on the shoreline where others are trying to get out off the beach either.
