hi guys i'm getting into kiteing and dont know what size gear to get i have been to a few kite shops and get different stories, i'm 100kgs and 6'1ft, if anyone can give me an idea would be great.
hello mate i am sure the person that will be giving you lessons
will be able to advise. being a heavy unit like myself your probably need 12m
or 14m depending on wind speed. and a board no smaller than a 136 hope this
has helped ......![]()

It's true, you will get different advice from everyone you speak with. No because they are leading you adrift just because everyone will have a different concept of sizes etc.
I find the more information you can give as a customer the better advice you will receive.
Consider the following-
-Weight
-Height (only for board size)
-Style of riding you will eventually aim for (this is important)
-Where you will ride
-What features you want in a kite
-Are you aiming for 1 kite or a 2 kite quiver
-Do you want a board just for learning or something small enough to continue on.
There are a lot of grey areas in kite and board size decisions as some kites are more powerful than others and some boards plane earlier than others. Take some time to discuss this with your shop and hopefully this can narrow down the range for your final decision.
