G'day Cab - surprised no one has replied...
Yes it is worth it for a safe great learning spot as a beginner or say trying strapless on a SB.
As per SEQLD kite guide (check satellite view).
Yes it does get busy - but equally if you sit-out for a while people are in and out all the time.
Good time to....
Watch how others
1) get their kite out on the water - line snagging on tree roots near waters edge can be an issue.
2) drift launch if going solo.
3) land their kite unassisted.

I have had some great days there in a southerly too - you end up going out across the lake as far as you want - so way more room.

There are bizarre lulls in the wind on hotter days - likely thermic activity - possible wind shadow as the place it happens is normally consistent on a given day.

Equally you could...
go to Golden beach at Caloundra - but this is tidal.
(with a mate) go to Boreen Point - Lake Cootharaba (refer to SEQLD guide) for a way less crowded version of Lake Weyba - it can be choppy and the setup is on the water's edge.

Cheers
AP
