I never liked that movie actually. I was at the same age as the actors too, so it was targetted at the teenage to low 20's market, and I didn't get it. I found the lines stupid, the spoilt nature of Ferris arrogant, and really the movie made me cringe at what "rich teens" get up to - which is crap really.

Awesome movie, even if it was about 28 years ago when I last saw it.
IMO other awesome movies for a 13 year old, in that year were:

Aliens,
Platoon,
Big Trouble in Little China,
Highlander,
