Hey all. Heading to Yeppoon next Thursday for the weekend. I'm sure there'd be some kiting in the area, I just have no idea where or what wind direction/tide is good. I'm a bit fussy and will only throw the gear in if it looks good and there's some good flat water around as space in the car will be at a premium. Any local knowledge appreciated.

Plenty of flat water. Runout tides ONLY if you in the creeks. It works on every wind, although too much south and it's gusty.

Cheers, forecast looks ok I think, will probably only have room for 1 kite so will put my 10 in rather than the 12. Friday looks decent and Saturday better. High tides are just after midday, will I have to wait a few hours before things flatten off? Also, don't have 4wd, where would you suggest? Cheers, Steve.

Finger crossed. I would take the 10. You could go hight tide to mid tide at the causeway mouth. If it's E, then fisherman's beach is fun. Or you could take the back way up to sandy point. It works from 2.6m downward's. A word of caution, this is a dangerous spot. If you loose your board it's lost forever. The tide rips through. But it has world class banks.
These are our flat water spots. But if you want to play in the waves, Almost every beach works.

Thanks for the info. Checked out google earth and the causeway looked like it could be good. Don't know where fisherman's beach is but will work it out when I'm there. I like the sound of sandy point, just wasn't sure if I could 2wd it on that road. Cheers.

The back track to sandy is ruff as guts but it looks perfect for the weekend. We will have a rail up there and a kicker. if your into wakestyle your more then welcome to come hit it

Just got back. Wind looked decent but was surprisingly lacking. I had a couple of sessions just after high on Friday and Saturday at the Causeway. What a great spot. Nice flat water with the sandbank but some choppy waves outside also. Surprised there were no others there, though It's a fairly narrower area so quite glad I had it all to myself.

Yeh I was at the causeway yesterday but the wind was light. Friday, Saturday and Sundaymorning were prim at sandy point.
