Hi, im coming to Sunshine Coast next week and at the moment I see that the wind is gone.
www.seabreeze.com.au/graphs/qld1.asp

But this is only forecast which probably does not include things like eg. thermical wind.
I am courious how is the wind reality at Sunshine cost ?
For the moment it looks pretty bad :(

BTW. Im gonna stay in Sunshine Coast for one week and then was thinking to go to Hervey Bay. However from the wind statistics I see that Gold Coast has stronger wind. Is it better to go more south then ?
Any comments for that / Any suggestions please ?

Its a matter of landing and then looking at the forecast, this time of year is in between, had you come a month earlier up north would be the way to go, a month from now should see sunshine coast getting nice consistent northerlies.
If you kite a river mouth you can get away with 5 knots less breeze than you would expect, if you are a beginner and aren't competent doing self rescues and upwind body drags I would not do this though.

Hi, thanks for reply.
Last week was looking good. Aprox. 20 knots. Just now when im coming it dropped :(
Hope it will improve.

River mouth - I understand there is some current that should help ?. What about crocodiles ?

Crocs are from up north mate. No crocs on the sunny coast just the occasional black shadow in the water.

No crocs, just bullsharks and stingrays mate
If you kite river mouths when the tide is going out it helps push you into the wind

Hey thanks a lot for answers.
I planing to take with me 12,9 and 7m kites but looking at wind stats and forecasts Im asking myself do I really need 7m?
I need at least 25 kntos to start my 7m (im 84kg).

That is also a matter of saving weight of my luggage and avoid all these stories on the airport.
Some hints here ?

Def bring your 12 & 9, you most probably won't miss your 7.

Hi czezz, we were on 12,s and surfboards...i didn't really pay any attention to others but I'd guess that some were on 12m kites but the majority would have been bigger.
Even a few foil boards around - that's the first I've seen at CT.

9m 2013 Fuel.

$500 bucks with comp stick bar.

I tend to get kites a season or two old. I abuse my gear so no need to spend the big bucks on a kite that doesn't change.

.

As for Sunday it's on like donkey kong. Been some serious sweep along the beaches. Knocks a few knots out of you.
