Gday everyone
I’m pretty new to kite surfing, I’ve had a couple of lessons and am at the stage where I’m confident in getting up on the board and riding for awhile but am still kinda sketchy.
Anyway I’ve never ridden at wellington point before and I’ve been there a few time to scope it out and talk to some locals but the last weeks wind has been super quite so haven’t seen anyone to talk to out there yet.
So I was just wondering if someone could give me the run down. What sort of winds do you get there normally and which side of the point do you ride for certain wind directions? Where do u set up, I’ve heard that you can’t set up above the high tide mark, what do you do when its high tide? Anything else to look out for? Sorry if these seem like stupid questions but I’m still learning so don’t know these things.
Thanks heaps in advance!!
hey bud think i had a chat to ya while ago im the bloke whos dumb enough to have a white kite at wello, usually get se winds there so your kiting on the rocks side between jetty and king island, depending on tide if its low you have to tac up to the becons if its high the joints a play ground, and yeah theres kite inspectors there on the weekend who dont want ya up on the grass, so stay on the beach if possible , next time your there just chat to the boys mate if theres anything ya wanna know, unless if its a shiela named liz then just kick her!
cya round mate
