Hey all, super keen for a downwinder this weekend.

If you are keen for a kite let me know.

I am only on the Sunshine coast for 2 days, then fly back out to Mt Isa.

Noosa to Old Woman Island looks good.

I know you are refering to tide, but how does that have any impact on the ocean downwinder??

that's an outrageously huge downwinder. I would do it if I was there!

Low tide is better than high tide, water is smoother due to it being a lot shallower

and there can be sand banks with shallow gutters on the inside,I've done this DW plenty of times

but finnish at Castaways or Sunshine Beach,

need to go round Pt Perry,

Its not that hard

Althought I would not recommend going all the way to Noosa

Stop at Castaways or Sunshine Beach'

There would be a big wind shadow once you got round pass Hells Gates and started going pass Noosa National Park in a south wind

Would need to stay right out wide in a Southerly wind

If the wind was from the east would be a lot more doable

Start at Mudjimba Beach or could start at Cotton Tree at Maroochydore

if you want to go the extra 4-5 km

Once we finnish ,just catch the bus back to where we started ,

no need to be organising and dropping off cars,

just meet at Cotton Tree or Mudjimba do the DW and jump on the bus back,

too easy

I would prefer to start at Cotton tree, the stretch between CT and Mudjimba is often the smoothist water

due to the wind being most side shore because of the curviture of the beach

Get the bus back to the Plaza and walk back to Cotton Tree

Dont forget your Travel Card if you have one

Best ask the locals what time is best!

Looks good from 11am onwards.

If it's happening, might jump on the bus and do another downwinder.

Need to make the most of it!

See what the wind is like on Saturday morning

Thinking maybe 10:00am

If the wind is up early can kite the Maroochydore Rivermouth on the run out tide

Till everyone arrives

ok sounds good ,I will probably be on a green and orange 9m Best

Will be with 2 friends 1 on a 13m Ozone Edge

and the other on a 10m Ozone C4

Dont think there will be too many people kiting in the rivermouth as the wind is the wrong direction

Should be able to find each other ok

Fantastic day kiting yesterday,4 of us started at Cotton Tree and finnished at Sunrise Beach

Probably around 37 km I think, going round Pt Perry was no problem, plenty of wind

I advised the guys to go out wide around the headland,

dont want to end up on the rocks if something goes wrong

SibboVI took it SO wide ,Think he went half way to New Zealand

Underoath took the award for dropping his kite most and been washed up on the beach,

Usually I get that award

But he was doing backrolls and backroll kiteloops coming off the waves, crazy WA

Did not see much off Greggor ,He was a the rear of the pack most of the time, think he was hanging back to pick up our boards or help if

we got in trouble ,he was the youngest and most senible,he would make a good kite instructor

2 other friends joined us at Mudjimba and kited to the Boardwalk Mt Coolum

one still has a bad ankle from a bad landing 2 months ago

wind was 16-20kts SSE side on,waves up to 1.7m

thanks for coming
