The development plans include vast areas of the Broadwater, which will impact on kiting one way or another. If not directly by banning it because the cruise ships need to come through, then indirectly through causing higher amounts of traffic in other kiteable areas because boating will be restricted around the terminal vicinity.
The Save Our Broadwater crew are doing a great job fighting this. The Spit is the 2nd last place on the Gold Coast that has a reasonable amount of original green and usable space after Burleigh National Park and is worth keeping it that way. Not some plastic casino and cruise ship precinct that serves the wealthy few...
I think even the LNP find Tate on the nose.

CHA-CHING for the petition - it is a human failing to destroy an attraction created by the locals. For the sort of money needed they could create an off-shore island and park mega-cruisers there - be an uproar about that - but less spoilage IMO - -
