Hey guys,

Recently moved to brisbane from Sydney, and have been giving Sandgate a fair work out, but have heard about Runaway Bay down in the goldcoast is worth trying.

I have had a look at Google maps, but a little unsure of where people launch from. Just wondering if someone had some idea on the park name or something to help me out where I should be looking at.

thanks,
terry

Hey Terry,

The name of the park you are after is Shearwater Park on Shearwater Esplanade. You will drive nearly straight into a car park (a short right then left) when you get to the end of Runaway Bay Dve.

You can launch from the beach straight in front of the car park which is only about 30m away. Tends to get a little choppy there from wind against tide as well as traffic on the water, always plenty of kiter's and poley's there though.

Cheers

Terry the link for the locations sticky above has an 'm' replaced with a space by accident.

Runaway bay = choice of 3 all fairly similar for someone at your level...
KFC/Loders creek is a bit further south (v.popular)
Shearwater / Jennifer / Oatland (less room for error here IMO)

They are all v.close to each other U may choose one over another due to boat moorings & state of the tide on the day...

Cheers

I learned there a bit. Ok spot but lots of traffic at times, weekends particularly. Felt like kiting on a motorway, always the noise of a big boat coming by.
