What was with the power outage yesterday arvo at the broadwater?

Did it have something to do with a black and red canopy?

Or a leash reel?

Yeah, it was caused by a kite boarder with a board leash.

Ok guys, I'm all for the arguing the banning of board leashes etc but when someone gets hurt (not because of the board leash) it should be toned down/left alone. There is already a thread about this (board leashes) and I think this is over the top. I have not seen the person that got injured doing anything crazy or dangerous around other kiters, and I know for a fact should this type of incident happen to one of the more experienced guys regardless of board leash there would be messages of support.

Yes it was strong, maybe he shouldn't have gone out but I don't think anyone warned him it was too strong for beginners and could be dangerous.

Lets take this as a lesson, when it is strong and not suitable for beginners maybe we should be proactive and warn them? How are they to know if no-one tells them? They are inexperienced beginners after all.

Might just stop one of our favourite spots from being banned like Wello has been. Obviously not all will listen and might get into strife but all we can do is try. (and yes I too am just as at fault for not warning all the beginners yesterday)

Lets just leave this one alone for the better good and I hope he recovers soon.

Toned down? Left alone? Lol
It made the news bloke.

Every time it hits 30kts at kfc or shearwater some beginner gets an ambo called.

Doesnt seem to matter what the message is to beginners, im just thankful Charis runs on natural gas. Imagine all the disgruntled seagulls having to eat cold chips caus some kook did a good job on thr power grid

Yes, left alone for this particular guy or at least used as a constructive lesson not just "oh it was caused by a kook beginner with a board leash".

I don't live on the coast thus didn't know it made the news.

What I said I stand by and you're right, some don't/won't listen however we all should try to give advice when it's not safe. We are a community and if it gets banned for **** like these accidents when someone could have said "hey mate, it's really strong and you probably shouldn't go out if your not decently competent" then we will only have ourselves to blame now won't we?

On the other side, beginners should feel comfortable talking to/asking us guys questions (yes most of us are friendly enough and approachable), and when it is strong like that should ask if it is un/safe.

oh snap... forgot about those seagulls... NO-BODY wants pissed seagulls :p
