Hey all you Southern Banana benders. I'm off to Brisbane in April for 2 years from Perth and wanted some advice on kite sizes. Normally I'm on a 10m with my light wind being a 14m. What sizes sbould I be thinking about for QLD? Normally I ride a 130cm TT and a 5'11" surfboard. Weigh about 80kg. Do I stay with the 10 and 14 or do I go with a 12 as some people seem to be suggesting to me?
I think I'll probably be living near UQ, but will be working at Bulwer Island (near the airport). What's my nearest option for a kite? Anything I need to know about the local spots? When is the wind best (what time of day and what time of year?)
Cheers guys and hopefully I'll be sharing some water with you all soon!
brooksy
most average weight guys here have only 1 kite and it's a 12 bow style
the 10 and 14 will be fine
we may suffer some kite envy cause you've got 2 kites ![]()
10 and 14 will be sweet - I ride my 14 in about 85% of conditions on the Sunshine Coast on a 134cm TT and I weigh 80. I'm looking to get a 10 or 11 for stronger days.
G'day Brooksy,
It's Antz here, I'm Oaky's(your fellow bullrat victim at Kitestock - lol :) mate - I met you brielfy there.
Anyways Dude, I'm off to Brissy as well for work and am as keen as mustard to continue this whole kiting thing.
Let us know your plans and we'll have to catch up either here or there. I leave here Friday 6th April.
Antz,
Definitely. I've just been in Brissy doing the house hunting thing. Will be living in New Farm. I arrive in Brissy about 20 April. Keep in touch!!
Good luck with the move Brooksy. Hope work and life over there all works out how you planned.
