Thinking of long weekend trip
Where's best if the wind comes?
Townsville even?

Conway Beach good in trade winds. There'll be kiters on a weekend. Low tide will afford a little walk. Crocodiles in the nearby Proserpine River.

Bowen. Several spots, sailing club good in trade winds / southerlys. Don River at low tide in easterlys. There's other nice beaches, too. Usually more wind in (blowen) Bowen than in Conway. Great spot!

you really need to check the BOM wind map when kiteing in the whit. sometimes a teeny little fractonal direction change makes conway go from what would be 20 knots to under 10.

as for my new favourite spot.... well ill be keeping it to myself for a little while even just got my boat licence just for it :)
best bet is bowen. theres a gap between hydeaway dingo and gloucester island where it seriously blows thru that channell but its pretty hectic a little dangerous and useually need some sort of boat or kaak to get there as no wind on the shore to kite there.
