It is membership renewal time...
I followed last year's process (basically doing the same since 2003)
but something has changed....
AKSA's website says.....
"At present your $65 subscription is split: AKSA $25; your state KSA $40. States are looking to encourage local clubs by offering a per member allocation of funds through to this third tier of our national federation. Your home KSA can advise how the local club system will work in your state."
At the point where you nominate your State / Club I recalled SEQKA's website I quote....
"This year SEQKA is only looking after the Gold Coast so...."
With my local option being....
My home state KSA and Sunshine Coast Kite Club -- and who is this???? What am I funding here....
This has caught me by surprise... I live on the Sunny coast but with a family membership running at $135.00 pro-rata that means I am giving $80.00 to a local black hole... $80.00 would be well received in Pakistan for the flood victims - but I choose to do this...
I want the AKSA membership for the liability insurance so if this requires me to fund a 3rd party registered with AKSA, AKSA has an obligation to identify who, the contact details, the rules of association etc etc.
I would be happy volunteer for a local organisation ...
However worded the way it is AKSA membership means I would be paying alot of slack for insurance... like last year I suppose....
Sunshine Coast Kite Club??? Nothing on Google except a link back to a Seabreeze post Circa 2005 with Uncle Ray's name - and ditto on a forum search...
Can anyone provide some details...?
Thx

Someone has gone off a little early.
We in Caloundra are currently trying to affilliate and incorporate our club. It hasn't happened yet.
We don't want to make it Sunshine Coast Club because the membership will be too spread out.
See Caloundra Kitesurfing Club on facebook. Apply to be a member.
It will take some time to affiliate. Its hard getting people moving and volunteering.
Your fund will be ok because aksa allocate them by member.
Funds are used by local (future) clubs to run local events which can include lots of things.
PM me if you need to know more or want to become involved.
further to your post...
I just registered my membership with no hassles.
Nothing was said about SEQKA handling Gold Coast only.
You must have accessed the site while it was being edited.
$65 is still cheap for $10 million insurance.
IKO don't even offer insurance anymore and they contribute zip, nada, nothing to Australian kitesurfing.
