Hi There.

I arrived in Brisbane a couple of weeks ago and has desperately been waiting for some wind! It seems that tomorrow there's finally gonna be some wind...

I am planning to take the day off and go to sandgate by train. Will anyone be there, and when is the best time of day?

Really looking forward to some water and air! :)

Hope to see you!

Cheers

You might want to try down at Brighton which is only down the road from sandgate as it is better in a SE wind. Sandgate tends to get a bit gusty or at least have holes and lulls in the wind. Mid to low tide is best as the high tide gives you little room for error.Watch the rock walls and groins. If the wind is on there will be people kiting for sure. Ask one of the friendly locals the do"s and dont's and have a good day

Hey Jas.

Thanks!

I don't have a car, so I will arrive by train. How far is there to Brighton, is it walking distance as well?

So when will mid to low tide be? :)

It's high at about 12:20pm tomorrow so a couple of hours either side of that would be good. Maby later in the afternoon as well if you can hang around. Walking distance from the train to Brighton is a fair walk but you may be able to jump on a bus heading to Redcliffe and jump off around Eventide which is an old peoples home before you hit the bridge. Just walk down the side street next to the home and your there.

Thanks alot for the tips mate. I just need to find my way around here :) I've brought a 27 kg kitebag with me, so don't wanna drag it to much around. I will try to catch a bus to the brighton area tomorrow morning and definately hang around for an afternoon surf as well...

Is it not possible to just surf from sandgate to brighton?

Sorry for alle the questions

Yeh it's a fun little down winder as long as your prepared at the end of the day to walk back to Sandgate with your gear if you leave anything there.

Heh...

So its not possible to sail back against the wind? It should be.

It seems possible to get a bus to the place you spoke of. I'll try to go with that.

Cheers.

Catch the train to Sandgate train station , there is a bus terminal there ,catch a bus towards Redcliffe and hop off around 18th-19th Avenue (near shops at Eventide) walk 200m to beach.
