Forgive me, I'm sure this has been asked before but rules tend to change over the years and the SEQKA website is currently "Under Construction" atm so I can't check there.

So whats the deal with North Kirra beach. Is kiteboarding allowed there or not?

Anyway, I went there today, not to kite but just to check it out, I notice there are signs saying "Kitesurfing prohibited 150m either side of flags (makes sense), and 200m seaward of low level bathing marker"

I get the 150m either side of flags thing, that's a given, but what do they mean by the second part... does that mean you are not allowed to be kitesurfing within 200m from the shore? :|

I kite at Kirra a bit. Not a bad spot if you can deal with the lump and bump. When there is two sets of flags up, one at Kirra slsa and the other down at nth Kirra it tends to tighten the area up a little. But the nth Kirra/bilinga flags only go up on weekends/holidays.

As for staying 200m from shore, well I can't really see why that restriction is in place but most ride on and around the back bank and I've never heard of any dramas. It's normally pretty onshore so it would be alot of work to blast too far offshore.

Thanks yeh... after thinking about it longer I think that 200m seaward means 200m seaward if going around flagged areas.

Thanks for the info.
