Hi all. I have just recieved my secondhand kitesurfing gear and was wanting some pro opinions on what the gear is like. All looks in very good condition.
I have 4 sorts of kites
Airush - Flow - 10 metre
Airush - Pilot - 8 metre
Roberto Ricci Designs - Type IV - 1 x 8m 1 x 7m
Pro Limit harness
Flying Objects 4 fin board
Any info on these would be great all I can find on the web is the Airush kites and the 8 is recommended as a good beginner kite.
Mate, don't go looking for opinions on gear you've already bought, it's only going to piss you off because everyone has there own opinion and someone is bound to say something you don't like.
Every person who continues to research after buying something will eventually find a better product at a cheaper price, regardless of whether it's a TV, car, fridge or kite. Be content with your purchase or put it up in the "buy&sell" section.
Follow up on the lessons you were going to do at Cotton Tree (from your previous post) and check with your instructor regarding a lesson with your own gear, in particular the QR and safety system so you are not as much of a danger to yourself or other people when you start kiting. Your instructor would be able to advise the best kite size for the conditions on the day.
Would you let someone who has never done it before (but watched a heap of YouTube videos) change the brakes on your car? How about deliver your baby, take you out on a sea voyage or represent you in court when you have caused injury or death to an innocent bystander?
There have been plenty kite related deaths, you only have to google it to find out. Please, for the sake of all of us, go out there and get some training on your potentially deadly equipment before we read about you in the papers!
Written with the best intentions!
I only paid $400 for the lot and after researching starting out in the sport I don't mind destroying the kites at that price. Once I am confident at it I will invest in some decent gear.
