Hey Hervey bay locals,
Can you kite North of Urangan Pier at low tide, or is it too shallow?
Thanks,
Burls
My advice FWIW....
Pack ur sh!t up and head an hour north....
Elliot Heads is pretty spesh!
Thanks for the advice Gilly, I plan to pack a swag and make a weekend of it within the next month or so, coming up from Sunny Coast.
So I rode at Urangan yesterday. Nice sesh!
At low tide people were kiting North-west of the pier and also in front of the aquarium. I didn't ride NW of the pier, but it was a fairly narrow channel of water at that point, and looked pretty shallow, although butter smooth.
SE of the aquarium, there was lots of beach and riding out into the bay, so no issues with the amount of water available. Normal bay chop. When the tide came up, there were some nice flat sections of water closer to the beach over the bank, and still enough beach to land your kite.
Just NW of the Aquarium, at low tide there was a very shallow water lagoon, which got bigger and deeper as the tide came in. Super sweet and butter smooth water.
During the incoming tide, the tidal flow was running from NW to SE, perfect for a SE wind.
You have a nice spot there guys!
