Hi tough boys,

It's Aimee here. I'm pretty much a veteran bystander/photographer for most of you at Loders.

I have seen and helped my fair share of 'newbie's' get out of sticky situations, but isn't that was being a newbie is all about? I myself am a 'newbie' and I have every excuse you can think of for why I don't go out (haven't caught that obsession bug yet ).

At the moment - congestion is my main reason. I don't want to piss ya'll off with my kite dropping down causing chaos, and failing to body drag upwind to my board, then having to ask for someone more experienced to help collect it for me!!

I can land and launch your kite, help you when you are struggling on the shore.
I ALWAYS am looking out for everyone, no matter their skill level.
Low tides, gusts, holes, collecting boards, catching rouge kites.. I can do a lot for someone who isn't an expert at the sport.

And remember, it's not only newbies that get into trouble, a highly experienced kiter came down pretty hard today on the beach at shearwater. It can happen to anyone.

All I want to say is, next time you see someone with a kite in a tree... someone that has boosted too high and come down like a tonne of bricks.. why not help them? Or at least have some empathy for them, be thankful it's not you and remember ya'll started somewhere.

From what I have seen so far Kiting is a fantastic sport with the most friendly community, so why not look out for each other rather than come to a forum and pay each other out?

nicely said im a newbie to this n so far most of the ppl ive met are nice and quiet helpful. I've help others launch and land before cause I need to launch and to land aswell. I agree if we work with each other its better for everyone.. both kiters and non kiters.

also if a more experienced kiter comes up to me and gives me some advise on what im doing and does so in a nice manner, ill most likely thank the person and tke their advice......... but theres always one who thinks that they own the beach n starts barking at ppl. just my xtra 2cents

also again its nice to see someone putting in the extra effort n ill try to do the same myself

Aimee, Aimee, Aimee.
First of all let me just clear the air..... the "tough boys" call........not a good start really.

Welcome to the sport...from all of the "tough boys" at Loders. Its one of the greatest things you can do and it really will change your existence once you get right into it. Its awesome to see that you too help land and launch kites, its part of the sport and everyone just bogs in and does it, even us "tough boys". You will find that once that obsession bug strikes, and I hope it does soon, when you are up and running and in the water kiting, you will find that you are constantly looking at all the kiters around you to see if all and sundry are OK.....this too is part of the sport. Us "tough boys" as you call us that have been kiting for a while are well aware that it is up to us to help out, give advice and nurture the newbies.....this too is part of the sport. Every single time there is an accident, and there are many, there will be a "tough boy" or someone around that will help out......this too is part of the sport.
As a newbie, what you need to understand is this....and I guess this especially applies to Loders. There are many, many, many kiters that rock up to Loders, they have not had a lesson, and they think they will be able to master the sport in a day. There are kites in trees, kites landing on rocks, bodies getting dragged over rock walls, broken bones, people in comas, ambulances and kites colliding with catamarans and nearly drowning. All of us "tough boys" are asking please get a few lessons just like we all did and it will help things out all round. You and others need to understand that the G.C.C.C are just waiting to pounce on Loders Creek to shut it down and all it will take is a member of the public to get injured and it will all be over, and if a newbie that has had no lessons or even better posts a topic on this forum stating that lessons are too expensive and he is willing to pay someone on the beach for a lesson, causes Loders to be shut down, then all of us "tough boys" will be really pissed off and Shearwater will be really busy.
We are just trying to protect the sport and the areas where people kite. Thats all.
PS. Your "tough boys" call was really amateurish.

Wow, can't believe there are not more signed up in the SEQKA or GOLD COAST KITE CLUB. That insurance seems cheap at $2.50 a week. We will have Forms at the
SURF FX store from this week end where you can sign up manually.

Also, as a Club we may have to discuss Loders and come up with a way of migrating some kiters to Sheerwater for safety.

Happy, SAFE kiting everyone...

People these days are always jerks in Forums. Ever since there were chat rooms and Facebook. I wouldn't look too much into the stuff people write. It's more how people act and treat each other on the beach that is of the most importance. Jon has a good point tho. People need to treat areas like Loders with a bit more respect. Especially out of towners that just come in for the weekend ride. There are many LOCAL guys that live near Loders and treat it correctly and look out for one another. Too many inexperienced and careless people are causing it to become a concern for the council and others and that ain't good for the sport or the people who live here close to Loders. Best thing to do is spread out a little. Beginners should really consider their safety and the safety of others and kite shearwater till you skill level rises somewhat.

I'm pretty sure this is a open forum? Why are my posts being deleted?

What a ****ing joke. Johnnyfreer is setting a horrible example of what this kitesurfing community use to be.

Someone has been a tad hurt it seems.

Hola Aimee,

Just get involved mate, I think the best thing to do is cruise up or down wind find your own spot and enjoy it. I am not a massive fan of this spot however when i do ride there I just head up or down wind to find a good bank. If you have friends who kite, go for a downwinder until you find Nirvana! There are a few cool guys down there who I am sure will help you out.

I recon less camera work more kiting!

Good luck!

most people try to emulate what the TOUGH BOY'S do.... Just a bit
of advice,if ya want to learn big air tricks and be cool... Head Out TOO
DEEP WATER where there is plenty of SPACE TOO RECOVER. We don't
all kite just for a crowd's approval. Aimee, there are bullies everywhere
and in every sport. Don't let them dictate your ability or future!
Look forward to seeing you blasting one day, cause it's great fun.

Have been kiting in Brisbane for about 3 years now and came to stay with a friend last weekend down the coast to find you guys have paradise as far as kiting spots go. Come to Sandgate or Brighton and see what it's like to have crowds of newbies in ****ty, choppy water is like. it was a nice NE wind with hardly anyone out on the water in comprrison to Brisbane and everyone there seemed to be good at what they were doing as far as kiting goes. Spots like this need to be looked after by not mixing your expectations up with your capabilities. If you really dont know what your doing, go have that extra lesson or ask for more advice. I am certain, like in Brisbane that any compitent kiter will be willing to point you in the right direction for the sake of keeping there beaches safe.

Hey Aimee, cool sentiment.
it sounds like you're a "kiter's widow" lol
otherwise you'd be down the way a bit out of the crowds, getting it together in a more relaxed environment. You know the spots.
But in any case even taking photos of this sport is enough to get a buzz on, so knock yourself out and haf a blast. Maybe you should start a blog? get a bizkard? I'm sure most folks would love to haf a pic of themselves rockin their latest move on at "jaws" ;p I would!
