I'm kiting with some friends just south of Cooktown for a week in July, and I'm wondering what is the best reference for wind?

When looking at the forecast I get anything from 24/7 20knots (Cape flattery) to F**k all (Cooktown).

Anyone knows what I should be looking at? I'm trying to decide what kites to take..

Cape Flaterry is the best one to watch for Cooktown. Take no notice of the Cooktown meter. It's in a low area and dosn't read the southerly wind very well.

Why red thumbs guys? He's right. Cooktown does not get good unless cyclone season or strong N-NE winds prevail. Rest in Cooktown, Play in Flaters.
